On the note of 'Nothing Gold can stay'... Tansy foraging!

14.10.2024

On the note of 'Nothing gold can stay' from my earlier blog post... this weekend I took a walk in Staffanstorp to see if the wonderful Tansy flowers I had found earlier this summer were still in bloom.

Surprised to find out that there were indeed still flower heads I could forage and bring back to my studio. (Only bringing a small amount of course - responsibly foraging is an important part of my sustainable approach to art making).

This is my first year discovering and foraging this incredible flower to create beautiful, deep yellow paint. I'm amazed by the variety of colors I've managed to extract, ranging from the pale light yellow to deep olive green.

I'd love to share some insights from my recent session making pigment and paint from Tansy flowers, but that story will have to wait. For now, here are two photos that showcase the stunning potential of this botanical beauty!
